Rural setting for sheep dog trials

Nov 17, 2011

Here is the setting for the recent U.S. border Collie Handlers Association sheep dog trials from last weekend.   The trial course is held in a more remote and rural part of the Center, away from electricity, potable water, and other civilized amenities.   However, the UC Hopland Research & Extension Center staff are able to provide all of these luxuries in such a rural situation.

Fortunately the weather gods shone favor upon us with little rain leading up to the event, which allows safe parking on the open grass areas.   If the event ever coincides with a major storm event then there will be more difficulties to overcome.  The actual course is out-of-sight in this photo ...but is just beyond the center of the scene.
